What We Do
The mission of DREAMS is to create of culture of confidence for youth and teens, by providing equitable access to arts education, supported by the values of respect, family, and community. Over 80% of our students are experiencing poverty and over 25% have a mental health diagnosis. We provide our classes free-of-charge, to youth and teens 8-17 years old - at our center for arts education on Wilmington's Northside, and through outreach classes at public housing sites, community centers, and other local partnerships.
Classes include pottery, painting, guitar, graphic design, digital music production, photography, theatre, ballet, fabric art, comic-book drawing, hip hop dance - and everything in between! We are student-led, staff-facilitated, and at the core of what we do, is a commitment to providing a space for our students to express themselves creatively - where they feel cared about, important, valued, and respected. We want them to develop a passion for learning and the confidence to try new things and grow as individuals!
