What We Do
The A.C.T.S. Movement introduces new methods of development, working with people from disadvantaged economic, social, and family circumstances. The A.C.T.S. Movement seeks to enrich the lives of families and facilitate community cohesiveness by partnering with businesses, churches, and non-governmental agencies. We are dedicated to ensuring that our community’s disadvantaged have access to resources, support and mentorship that are consistent and relatable. Our Mission: Provide creative programs that are set to inspire, impact, and empower families who are facing various challenges in their lives through character building, innovative thinking, and entrepreneurship. Serve as a resource for those who need help and provide them the necessary tools to become productive and successful. Develop collaborative community partnerships with other organizations and non-governmental organizations to help achieve collective impact for positive systemic change. Foster change and construct an effective environment by supporting families to build a just, equitable and sustainable society. The A.C.T.S. Movement, Inc. has partnered with multiple food distribution sites in order to become a dependable food pantry and resource in our community. Our hunger relief efforts rely heavily on one key component – our Food Pantry, which is open every first and third week of the month to assist food insecure families in New Hanover County and surrounding areas. Although we are a smaller, grassroots organization, our hunger relief efforts have reduced our community's hunger population by 2.6%. Our geographical location warrants ongoing hunger relief efforts, and our impact to hunger relief this particular population serves as the catalyst to physical, academic, social and financial well being to individuals with extenuating circumstances. The projected goal within the next 6 months is to reduce the communities hunger population by approximately 4.6% and reach food deprived families that are missed by mainstream food pantries.
