What We Do

We are a youth woodworking program offering youth and young adults a safe alternative to the streets and a positive, nurturing environment in which to learn. We offer a continuum of five programs designed to complement one another - our entrepreneurial after-school program, our intro to woodworking outreach program, our custom order apprenticeship program, our summer jobs program (in collaboration with Voyage), and our vocational skilled trades program. We also offer therapeutic woodworking experiences to all of the children and mothers in the domestic violence shelters throughout southeastern North Carolina (New Hanover, Onslow, Pender, Brunswick, Bladen and Columbus counties). We aim to build long-lasting, meaningful and positive relationships with those who we serve. Our goal for every student we serve is for them to stay in school, stay out of trouble, and transition successfully into either the workplace or college. We serve a diverse group of students and critical to our mission is our focus on students who are experiencing poverty, who have been victims of crime, who have been in trouble in school, or who are experiencing some other significant social or behavioral challenge in life.

Interesting Info
  • We typically serve 600+ young people every year!
  • Our students get to keep 100% of the profits from the sale of their projects - and we have a gift shop onsite!
  • We are always looking for volunteers who can help out from 4-6pm on weekdays!
