North Carolina Coastal Federation

Volunteer Opportunity:
Native Planting Volunteer Event
I'm Interested!

Join staff and volunteers to help plant native flowers, vines, carnivorous plants and more at the Federation’s Coastal Education Center in Wrightsville Beach. The project is funded through the Landfall Foundation and Cape Fear Garden Club and is a part of the Walk the Loop for Clean Water tour, which aims to reduce the amount of polluted runoff that makes its way into the intracoastal waterway.

Not only are native plants cost effective as they require less maintenance and watering while providing habitat for native wildlife and can help to prevent the spread of invasive species. Native plants also have a deep, extensive root system that absorbs more than non-native species and can also help with preventing erosion.

All project supplies and equipment will be provided as well as snacks and refreshments. The event is open to the public and suitable for all ages. Come on out to plant or just to find out what you can do in your own backyard to protect your local coastal waters.
